The Davis Dyslexia Correction® program centers upon the root cause of learning disabilities and embraces and utilizes the natural talents and strengths of the individual’s learning style. Clients enjoy their experience as it eliminates “the struggle” may encounter through traditional methods such as repetition and drill.

Since the program is tailored to an individual’s goals, a client can expect varying results. In general, a client can expect to gain an improvement in self-esteem within the first days of the program. The client should experience success with learning easily for the first time. This is because they will gain the basic tools to recognize and correct disorientations at will, be able to focus attention and will gain the knowledge to eliminate confusions in words and symbols.
Other gains can be made in coordination improvements, monitoring energy levels, time management and organizational skills. It provides methods for focus, mental clarity and will ease stress.

The Davis Dyslexia Correction®
program is a four part process:

1. The Assessment:
This is the first step in the process, and it will determine if a client is a suitable candidate for the program. At this point we try to determine what the client's goals might be. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours, and an appointment can be set up at the Waterloo office or by telephone for those who live further away.

2. The Program:
The program is designed to help the client to begin to perceive accurately and correct their misperceptions at will. This is done through perceptual and kinesthetic exercises outlined in the book, “The Gift of Dyslexia “ Copyright© 1994, 1997 by Ronald D. Davis.

Throughout the program, clients will learn and master the basic symbols of reading and writing by creating abstract concepts with clay. It is designed to help other learning disabilities which are under the umbrella of Dyslexia such as ADD, ADHD, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia.

The program is designed for children and adults from ages 8 and up. There is a learning program available for younger children.

This is an intense, one-on-one, one-week program. It is normally conducted from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. There are frequent breaks during the day and the client is free from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. every day. Again, the program is tailored to meet the goals of the client. The client should be well rested and come to the program with a positive attitude.

3. Support Training:
On the last day of the program, there will be support training for a tutor, teacher or family members who will continue the ongoing work with Symbol Mastery. The client will receive materials needed to complete and fulfill their goals. Follow-up work is done independently on the clients schedule in their own home with no additional expense. No weekly visits are needed.

4. After the Program:
Follow-up support is also included as part of this program. Dyslexia Resources Canada will provide unlimited telephone or email consultations and up to three 2 hours follow-up visits as needed. We are willing to visit schools or workplaces to address the needs of the individual.
